Led by Apostle John Levi Lewis — a pastor, apostle, author, civic leader, and certified Kingian Nonviolence practitioner with nearly thirty years of community ministry experience in New Haven, Connecticut — the organization brings people from diverse communities together to explore the root causes of violence and build constructive, lasting alternatives to conflict.
J. Lewis Community Services partners with churches, civic leaders, city agencies, and grassroots organizations throughout New Haven, Hamden, and beyond, training and implementing the philosophy and strategies of Kingian Nonviolence Conflict Reconciliation across racial, social, economic, and generational divides.
The curriculum operates under permission from Dr. Bernard Lafayette Jr. of LaFayette and Associates, and offers trainings and certifications to civic leaders, educators, social workers, ex-offenders, government agencies, arts organizations, and businesses.

J. Lewis Community Services uses Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s vision, philosophy, and methodology of nonviolence to promote lasting civic engagement at every level of community life — from conflict reconciliation training to mentorship and youth development initiatives under Kingdom Alliance.
Violence divides communities and breeds further violence. The CDC identifies violence as an urgent public health problem, affecting economic, social, and political structures. Many efforts respond only after violence has occurred; institutionalizing Kingian Nonviolence offers a proactive response and seeks to build what Dr. King called the Beloved Community.

Participants explore commonalities and connections, expand on individual and group values, examine the Six Principles of Nonviolence, and engage in small and large group conversation. The four-hour session allows more time in each content area.

Analyze and identify different forms of conflict, examine the Six Principles and Six Steps of Nonviolence, gain historical perspective on nonviolence campaigns that changed U.S. law, and develop cooperative problem-solving strategies. Includes small and large group conversation, reading assignments, and films with discussion.

Train-the-trainer program certifying participants as co-facilitators of the Two-Day Core training. Develops leadership and life skills in nonviolence conflict reconciliation, civic engagement, and community organizing for social justice.
